  • Georgia Things

I was folding laundry with the older boys on my bed and had Georgia laying on the bed.  She was content when we finished so I left her with the boys and went downstairs to start dinner.  Ethan came down a few minutes later and I asked him how Georgia was doing.  He replied, "Oh, she's doing Georgia things."  Me:  "What are Georgia things?"  Ethan:  "Oh, you know -- lying around and looking cute."  Yes, I have to agree, she's very good at that.

She's also growing just as chubby as the boys.  She had a checkup last week and weighed in at 15 lbs. 7 oz.

  • Happy Father's Day

I think we did pretty good this year.  Judging from the way he kept tearing up, I think my husband was blessed.  (He talks tough most of the time but I know he's a softie underneath, at least when it comes to his family )  The boys made their own cards.  Asher wrote "Happy fathers Day.  your the Best Dad.  Smart loveing strong handsome"  Ethan wrote "Happy fathers Day to the smartest, strongest, loveing, awesomest, coolest, best Dad in the world!"  Who couldn't get mushy over that??  Also, I got him a CD from Above Rubies called Richest Man on Earth - Songs for Fathers.  We put it in the van on the way to church but didn't really get to listen to it over the *ahem* chattering from the backseats.   So I hope he likes it.  And I made him a new handprint Tshirt.  I browsed CafePress for inspiration and came up with this:

  • Box Day

Today was Box Day!!!  Oh, yippee!  Watch me do the Dance of Joy:   (some of you "older" folks may know what the real dance of joy looks like )

This is the happiest day of the year for a homeschooling mom.  Well, at least for those of us who use a "boxed curriculum" it is.  What those moms who piece together their own curriculums do for fun, I have no idea.  Probably spend their summers writing up lesson plans or something exciting like that.

All the promise, all the potential, aaah...  It's a happy happy day!

We're going to be using Creation to the Greeks from My Father's World.  It will be our 5th year with MFW, so yeah, we like it.  We'll be studying the Old Testament in-depth as well as learning about the surrounding cultures.  We'll also be celebrating the Biblical feasts, which we've done lightly in the past but I'm looking forward to going deeper this time around.  So now if you'll excuse me, I'll be taking my 300 page teacher's manual to bed with me for some light bedtime reading.

Celebrating two birthday boys since their b-days are only 8 days apart.  Daddy told them they could each pick any cake they wanted out of his cookbooks.  (what was he thinking???  lol!)

    Asher chose Death by Chocolate

Ethan chose a white chocolate cake with buttercream filling and decorated with chocolate leaves.  Fortunately, dh didn't have to cover the whole top with leaves like the cookbook picture so there would be room to write on it.

Celebrating with family - ours plus hubby's grandmother, his sister and her husband and their daughter.
